Guess Flag Quiz

Kyrgyzstan Flag

Kyrgyzstan looks like “a red flag with a sun” until you notice the sun has forty rays and a circular tunduk (yurt crown) lattice inside. That lattice is the clincher.

Flag of Kyrgyzstan

How to identify the Kyrgyzstan flag

  1. Solid red field with a single centered yellow sun — no stripes, crescents, or stars at the hoist.
  2. Count the feel of the rays: there are forty relatively thin golden rays around the disc.
  3. Inside the sun disc is a red tunduk: a crossed, roof-opening pattern from a traditional yurt — not a plain disc like Japan’s.

Colors

Red field. Yellow/gold for the sun and rays. The tunduk lines appear red against the yellow disc.

Kyrgyzstan flag FAQ

What is inside Kyrgyzstan’s sun?

A tunduk pattern — the crossed crown of a yurt. If the sun center shows that lattice, choose Kyrgyzstan.

How is Kyrgyzstan different from North Macedonia’s flag?

Both are red with yellow sunbursts; Kyrgyzstan’s sun contains the tunduk lattice and forty thin rays.

Does Kyrgyzstan use Islamic crescents like some neighbors?

Not on the national flag. Look for the sun and tunduk, not a crescent.
